Hello fellow Dorset breeders, show people, 4H/FFA members that have Dorset sheep as projects,
Three major things to check out on our website. First, the 2021 membership form is now available here. Initial information on the Junior Show has been posted here. And, the 2021 scholarship application has also been made available here.
Our goal as Iowa Dorset Association, is to strive to provide our communities with knowledge of the enjoyment and profits of raising Dorset’s. This includes ALL Dorset producers – Polled Dorsets, Horned Dorsets, Wether type Dorsets and Dorset Advantage Dorsets.
We hope more youth up to age 21 will take advantage of a reduced membership due and the opportunities we have for our youth.
We are sure hoping that we can hold our Jr Show/North Central Regional Dorset Show as planned. 2020 was a very crazy year for trying to hold shows and sales due to COVID-19. We hated to postpone our show to a later date last year, but we still had a great turnout! Hoping more can clear their calendars for the 2021 Show. This year we are holding the Iowa Jr Dorset Show in conjunction with the North Central Regional Dorset Show on Saturday July 31, 2021. More details as well as the entry form, will be seen and available, on our Iowa Dorset Website and Facebook page.
Like last year we will be presenting a scholarship to a 4H applicant and a FFA applicant. Last year we presented two $500 checks to the selected applicants even though there was not a State Fair Show. Do not miss out on this opportunity. The scholarship information is now available on our website. There is one change so be sure to take note.
Right now, besides having our membership drive we are also working on finding sponsors for our 4th Annual Iowa Jr Dorset Show and our scholarship drive. If any of you have a business or know of any businesses in your area that you think would be great as a sponsor, please get their information to us! The more sponsorships we receive the better it is for our Dorset youth!!!
