Our 2024 Iowa Dorset Queen is Miss Claire Hogan. She is a recent

graduate from Monticello High School.

She has been accepted into Iowa State University to major in Agriculture

Communications.

 

She has been involved in many different activities in high school and

outside of high school, These activities include

FFA, 4-H, County Council, Drama, SODA, Speech, Band(marching, jazz,

concert)and bowling. These activities has helped to develop her leadership

skills

 

Claire has shown sheep for nine years in 4-H and FFA. She had a good

mentor that helped her the first year.

She loved showing sheep. She learned different types of husbandry skills.

She built a sheep feeder that would feed four sheep.

 

Over the years she has shown cross-bred Dorsets and purebred Dorsets at

the county and state level. She has loved setting goals for her and her

sheep.

 

She would like to encourage young members in 4-H and FFA to have fun

raising and showing Dorsets and to spread her passion for the Dorset

sheep to other communities and people.
